One 14-year-old youth was found dead only a few days after being wrongly blamed of stealing the cremated remains of a deceased infant during a burglary, an inquest has heard.

Tragic Discovery

Kai Lloyd's mother and father found his body in his room at his Flintshire home on 19 November 2021.

False Accusations Start

The investigation heard how his parent got a communication on November 8th, 2021 via online platforms, from a individual asking if her son was her child. The communication stated: "Inform him thanks for burgling my apartment."

In a statement presented to the court, Lisa Lloyd said the woman had been in the media, asserting her infant's remains had been stolen in a break-in - a claim which was false.

Law Enforcement Investigation

An official inquiry from authorities later determined the supposed break-in victim had "lied to police" and "evidence shows that the property was never stolen in the first place".

News coverage about the alleged taken remains attracted online responses, and although the teenager was not named in the messages, his mother said people "knew it was him".

The "social media content were really upsetting", she stated.

Emotional Health Impact

She explained that her son had been diagnosed with mild ADHD, and as part of that disorder, other individuals' views genuinely mattered to him.

"It would have hurt him deeply," she commented, "especially when this was untrue".

The teenager was arrested at home, but nothing was discovered. He was transported to a police station and later freed pending further inquiry.

Authorities said they would be in touch, the hearing heard, but had failed to contacted the relatives by the moment of his death.

Withdrawal and Worry

His mother said her son "withdrew into himself" after the arrest and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had heard anything from the authorities", because his condition meant sometimes "a minute could seem like days".

When she spoke to him about the alleged burglary, she said her son told her he had gone into the residence because the woman who lived there had said he could use the bathroom whenever he needed, but refuted removing anything.

Digital Bullying

In a joint statement between her and her spouse, the mother said her child was being harassed digitally after the accusations.

The inquest heard that a young adult encouraged the teenager to kill himself.

She had no concerns on the night before he died, explaining how she had heard him "laughing and teasing".

She portrayed him as a "compassionate, affectionate" boy, and said her "relatives is completely shattered".

He had been "clearly hiding his worries", she said, noting that he could not stand to have anyone "have negative thoughts of him".

School Response

The inquest heard from school personnel at the local secondary school.

On November 8th, she "overheard some boys discussing that the student had been detained and that was the initial I learned".

"He informed me... he'd was innocent," she added.

After the conversation, the staff member said she called the family's parents' telephone and left a voicemail saying she had communicated to Kai about the accusations.

The court heard his parents said they did not got that communication.

Formal Finding

Senior coroner told the inquest he would wait for reports regarding what improvements had been made to dealing with individuals with the condition, before deciding whether he should make a avoidance of future fatalities report.

Delivering a narrative finding, he said: "Approximately November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a young individual.

"Likely untruths were subsequently embellished and amplified through the platform of social media.

"On 11 November, he was questioned by the authorities and after his questioning he was released whilst inquiries continued."

The official determined: "Exists no evidence that the actions or failures of any organization caused or added to his death and although it was the outcome of a self-inflicted act it is not possible to discern his purpose."
