Peacemaker Season 2 Finale to Address Significant Fan Complaint, James Gunn Reveals

Although the reception for Peacemaker season 2 has been largely favorable, with fans and critics praising the performances and plot—even if the major revelation in the seventh installment didn't come as a surprise—one critique has only grown stronger throughout the season: decreasing runtime lengths.

In recent weeks, audience members have voiced frustration over the significantly reduced episode lengths in season 2, and indeed, the episodes have been progressively briefer. The seventh episode, called “Like a Keith in the Night,” ran just 28 minutes (excluding the recap, title sequence, and closing credits), marking the briefest installment yet.

You'll be happy to learn next week's episode is over 57 minutes long.

Peacemaker showrunner and DCU boss Gunn stated via social media, responding to a disappointed fan.

Although this is encouraging, it remains unclear exactly how much of the 57 minutes will be brand-new content, uncluttered by opening and ending sequences, or summaries of past episodes. That said, even if the finale contains all the aforementioned filler, that still leaves roughly three-quarters of an hour for the concluding episode, which is a significant improvement following the previous installment.

The director earlier hinted that the last episode would not only conclude Peacemaker but also give a hint towards the direction the broader DC Universe as a whole will be heading and act as a kind of precursor for the next Superman movie. Given the cameo of the actor's portrayal of Lex Luthor from episode 6, fans expect a exciting guest appearance to cap off the show.

The show's season conclusion, episode 8, is called "The Full Nelson," and we'll just have to wait to see if fans' suspicions are confirmed.
