Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Group

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
